Three 17-Year-Olds Injured in Dotonbori, One Who Was in Critical Condition Regains Consciousness, Another Discharged
In a stabbing incident in Dotonbori, Osaka, three 17-year-olds were injured, with one fatally wounded, but two others are recovering and have been discharged from the hospital.
In February, a tragic incident in Dotonbori, Osaka, involved three 17-year-old boys who were stabbed, resulting in the death of one and injuries to the other two. Reports indicate that one of the injured boys, who had been in critical condition and unconscious, regained consciousness and was discharged from the hospital on March 2. Another boy, who suffered internal injuries, also recovered and left the hospital on March 1.
The incident occurred on February 14 in the Shinsaibashi area of Osaka, where the three teenagers were attacked late at night. The deceased has been identified as Ryunosuke Kamata, a company employee from Tawaramoto in Nara Prefecture. The investigation suggests that the attack might have stemmed from a dispute that arose after one of the attackers, 21-year-old Ryoga Iwasaki, allegedly behaved inappropriately towards a woman in the area, leading to the warning from Kamata and his friends.
Iwasaki was arrested on murder charges and initially claimed he did not intend to kill, stating that he had intended to intimidate with the knife but ended up stabbing Kamata near the chest when confronted. This violent episode has raised concerns about youth safety and public order in Osaka, highlighting the need for increased vigilance against such attacks in urban areas.
