After 2027, there will be no program for Eastern Poland. Regions want new forms of assistance
Eastern Polish regions are advocating for continued support from the European Union beyond 2027, following the cessation of the current assistance program due to the region's historical economic struggles.
After 2027, the European Union's support program for Eastern Poland is set to conclude, leaving regional leaders concerned about the future of economic aid in some of the country's most impoverished areas. The regions of Lubusz, Podkarpackie, Podlaskie, ΕwiΔtokrzyskie, and Warmian-Masurian have significantly benefited from EU funding over the years. From the time Poland joined the EU in 2004 until 2020, special funding programs were established to assist these areas in overcoming their economic challenges and fostering regional development. With the end of these initiatives approaching, there is an urgent call for establishing new forms of assistance to ensure that the progress made is not lost.
