As Tensions Rise in the Middle East – I. Ruginienė’s Message Regarding the Evacuation Operation
Lithuanian Prime Minister I. Ruginienė announced the start of an evacuation operation for vulnerable groups from the United Arab Emirates and surrounding countries due to rising tensions in the Middle East.
Due to escalating tensions in the Middle East, Lithuanian Prime Minister I. Ruginienė has announced the initiation of an evacuation operation aimed at assisting vulnerable groups of Lithuanian citizens located in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and nearby countries. This decision comes in response to increasing security concerns in the region. The government recognizes the limitations faced by individuals seeking to leave these areas and has prioritized the evacuation of those at high risk.
I. Ruginienė emphasized that, although there are limited safe exit options, the government believes that land travel is currently manageable and does not pose significant threats to life. She assured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively engaged in coordinating the logistics of the evacuation and will provide detailed information to those who have registered for assistance in leaving the region. The urgency of this operation reflects Lithuania's commitment to ensuring the safety of its citizens abroad during times of crisis.
Additionally, the Prime Minister has urged Lithuanian citizens currently in Israel and Lebanon to adhere to safety recommendations. The ongoing volatility in these areas forms part of the global context in which the Lithuanian government is making crucial decisions to safeguard its nationals. The situation remains dynamic, and further developments from the government are anticipated as they monitor conditions and adjust their response accordingly.
