Opposition Warns of Inadequate Representation at Venice Commission Plenary Session

Lithuanian opposition leaders express concern over lack of representation at the upcoming Venice Commission plenary session.

The Seimas board has appointed social democrat Indrė Kižienė and representative Artūras Zuokas from the Mixed Group of Seimas to participate in the upcoming plenary session of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, scheduled for March 5-8 in Venice. In light of this decision, leaders of three opposition factions—Laurynas Kasčiūnas of the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen of the Liberal Movement, and Saulius Skvernelis of the Democratic faction 'For the Future of Lithuania'—have raised alarms over the lack of representation for the opposition at this crucial event.
