Ear Case: MP has 30 days to analyze videos and phones of those investigated in SC

The Public Ministry of Santa Catarina has 30 days to analyze new evidence related to the case of a dog named Orelha, which was found dead in Florianópolis.

The Public Ministry of Santa Catarina (MPSC) has established a task force to analyze new investigations regarding the death of a dog named Orelha in Florianópolis. This was confirmed to NSC TV on Monday, as the ministry received new materials from the Civil Police at the end of February. This task force has a deadline of 30 days to complete their analysis, which includes videos submitted on February 25 and cell phones seized from individuals involved in the case.

The analysis of the collected data will focus on the materials obtained through search warrants, where the Civil Police extracted data from the seized mobile devices. The team responsible for this examination consists of prosecutors already familiar with the case: the 10th Public Prosecutor's Office, focusing on issues concerning minors, and the 2nd Public Prosecutor's Office, which handles criminal matters. This ongoing investigative effort highlights the importance of thorough evidence examination in animal welfare cases.

Following the dog's death on February 4, the MPSC received an initial report on the investigations one month later, and subsequent requests for additional actions came from the Public Ministry itself. As the case unfolds, the outcomes of this analysis may have significant implications for both legal accountability and community awareness concerning animal rights and welfare in Santa Catarina.
