More testimonies and examination of the body: SC Justice accepts 35 requests in the investigations of the dog Orelha's death; see which ones

The Santa Catarina Justice accepted 35 requests from the Public Ministry to expand investigations into animal mistreatment related to the death of a dog named Orelha.

The Santa Catarina Justice has agreed to 35 requests from the State Public Ministry (MPSC) to enhance the investigations into cases of alleged mistreatment and related threats involving two dogs, Orelha and Caramelo, in Praia Brava, Florianópolis. These requests follow a report by the Civil Police indicating that Orelha was brutally beaten on January 4, and despite being taken to the veterinarian by local residents, he succumbed to his injuries the following day. Among the judicial requests accepted is the exhumation of Orelha's body, aimed at gathering further evidence regarding the circumstances of his death.

The investigation has unveiled a series of offenses allegedly committed by adolescents, including aggravated theft, insults, threats, and animal cruelty. Columnist Ânderson Silva from NSC had exclusive access to the judicial decision from Tuesday (10) that reveals the extent of the charges being probed. The move to intensify the investigation sources from the judicial system's commitment to addressing and clarifying these serious allegations and ensuring accountability for those involved in the case.

Judge André Milani has delayed the consideration of a request from the Civil Police to detain a teenager believed to be responsible for Orelha’s death. He emphasized the need for further examination and deliberation regarding the evidence before making a decision on the boy's potential internment. This situation has stirred public outrage over animal cruelty, highlighting a broader societal issue regarding the treatment of animals and the legal responsibility of minors in such cases.
