FG blames glitch for February salary delay
The Federal Government of Nigeria has attributed the delay in February salary payments to a technical issue, which has now been resolved.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that the delays in salary payments for February 2026 to treasury-funded workers were caused by a technical glitch. After resolving the issues, the Office of the Accountant-General confirmed that they have started disbursements to affected workers nationwide from March 2, 2026. This statement aims to address the concerns raised by federal employees affected by the delay.
The Director of Press and Public Relations at the Office of the Accountant-General, Bawa Mokwa, explained that measures have been implemented to ensure such a delay does not happen again in the future. The government acknowledged the frustration this may have caused among employees who depend on timely salary disbursements. By taking responsibility for the mistake, they aim to maintain trust and confidence among federal workers.
This incident highlights the importance of technical reliability in government operations, especially in managing payroll for federal employees. Such disruptions can affect not only the financial well-being of the workers but also their morale and the overall perception of government efficiency in handling salaries and public funds.
