In January 2026, the total number of reported rapes in the Baixada Santista and Vale do Ribeira regions increased by 25.6% compared to January 2025, with data released by the São Paulo State Public Security Secretary (SSP-SP). The number of recorded rapes rose from 12 to 23 incidents, reflecting a substantial increase of 47.8%, marking the highest percentage change among the different crime types reviewed. Additionally, there was a notable increase in cases of vulnerable rapes, which went from 46 to 55, representing a 16.4% rise, bringing the total number of rape incidents to 78.
