During his weekly press conference, 'Frecuencia Quiteña', Mayor Pabel Muñoz addressed the rising citizen pressure regarding the new garbage collection rate that took effect on February 1. He emphasized the need to reassess the formulas and percentages used to determine this rate in order to mitigate its impact on residents in various neighborhoods, particularly those facing financial strain.

The mayor stated that he will collaborate with his team to analyze usage data and will make adjustments to ensure that large consumers are not disproportionately affected by the current charges. While Muñoz noted that individual users have not expressed major concerns, he acknowledged the dissatisfaction from residents in over 50 neighborhoods within the Metropolitan District who feel burdened by the costs now integrated with their water bills.
