The 14th Military Police Battalion introduced three new sniffer dogs in Ipatinga to help combat drug trafficking and crime in the region.
The 14th Military Police Battalion in Ipatinga, Brazil, has welcomed three new sniffer dogs named Volvo, Duck, and Buck, which have already been integrated into operational teams to tackle drug trafficking and other crimes in the Vale do Aço region. These dogs, aged between 1 year and 3 months, arrived in the city roughly two weeks ago, already trained to identify illicit substances and weapons, enhancing police capabilities in the area.
During their official presentation, a demonstration showcased the dogs' skills on a soccer field where they successfully located hidden drugs and a firearm, confirming their effectiveness in real-life scenarios. Captain Glauberson Crismis emphasized that this initiative will bolster law enforcement efforts and improve community safety, especially in areas affected by drug-related issues.
The dogs were trained at a kennel in Goiás, starting their training as puppies, focusing on daily exercises aimed at detecting illegal substances over the course of approximately one year. Their deployment in Minas Gerais marks a significant step towards strengthening the fight against drug-related crime and signifies a commitment by local law enforcement to utilize all available resources to ensure public safety in the region.
