Bricklayer dies on the roof of a house during renovation in MT
A 40-year-old bricklayer was found dead on the roof of a house in Sinop, Brazil, while performing renovations.
On March 1, 2023, a bricklayer named Marcos Palheta Pinheiro, 40, was discovered dead on the roof of a residential property in Sinop, located 502 km from Cuiabá, Brazil. He was hired to carry out renovations on the house when he was found unresponsive. Emergency services, including the Military Firefighters of Mato Grosso, reported that he had no vital signs upon their arrival, and the circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation.
According to the Civil Police, the homeowner stated that he had contracted Marcos for the roofing work. Around 4 PM, the homeowner's sister prepared coffee and attempted to call for the worker, who was up on the roof installing a tile. When Marcos did not respond, the homeowner became concerned and went to check on him. Upon climbing up the ladder, he found Marcos lying unconscious with bleeding from his face.
The incident has raised questions regarding the safety measures in place for construction workers during renovations. Investigations have been launched to determine the exact cause of the worker's death, as well as whether any workplace safety regulations were violated.
