Finnish tourists being transported from Dubai to Finland via Oman and Thailand

Hundreds of Finnish tourists are stranded in Dubai and Doha due to the halting of civil flights in the area following attacks from Iran.

Hundreds of Finnish tourists find themselves stranded in Dubai and Doha as civil flights to the region have been suspended due to Iranian attacks. Travel agency Aurinkomatkat has initiated land transport for about a hundred of their customers to Oman, from where they will fly back to Finland via Thailand. Other travel agencies, Tjรคreborg and TUI, have more than a hundred Finnish tourists in the same situation, and they are exploring various options to repatriate these travelers.

The Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel to the United Arab Emirates and Qatar due to the rising tensions from the Iran strikes. At the onset of the conflict, there were thousands of Finnish citizens in the Middle East, some of whom are tourists in the affected areas. Dubai has traditionally been a popular winter destination for Finnish travelers, while Doha has also attracted visitors through organized trips.

The ability of Finnish travelers to return home is increasingly delayed as commercial flights in the region have been suspended. With both Dubai and Doha being targeted in the Iranian attacks, repatriation efforts are critical for the safety of the stranded tourists. The situation highlights the challenges in international travel due to geopolitical conflicts, urging a re-evaluation of travel plans for those considering visiting the region in the near future.
