Video: Pickup Truck Gets Stuck and is Buried in Mud During 100 mm Rain in Piauí
A pickup truck was buried in mud after heavy rains in Simões, Piauí, where about 100 mm of precipitation was recorded on the same day.
In Simões, Piauí, a pickup truck was completely buried in mud following intense rainfall that dropped approximately 100 mm on Saturday, the 28th. The vehicle became stuck in the mud when its owner, Luiz Walter, was driving to a farm under conditions worsened by previous rainfall. Despite his efforts to get help, Luiz couldn't retrieve the truck in time, as the rains intensified quickly, leaving the vehicle submerged for hours.
Luiz explained that at the time he got stuck, there was no water flow, and the ground was simply wet from earlier rains. He had left the truck momentarily to fetch another vehicle from his home, located 800 meters away. Upon his return, he found that the situation had drastically changed, with heavy rains making any recovery efforts futile. The attempted recovery took place over the weekend, requiring assistance from three different machines due to the extent of the mud's grip on the truck.
The incident highlights the severe weather conditions affecting the region, showcasing how quickly seemingly manageable rain could escalate to dangerous flooding situations. It serves as a reminder of the importance of monitoring weather conditions in areas prone to heavy rainfall, especially during ongoing wet seasons.
