The latest step by "Linava" as trucks stuck in Belarus do not return
Trucks and transport vehicles belonging to Lithuanian companies remain stuck in Belarus, with losses amounting to nearly €22 million due to restrictions imposed by the Belarusian authorities.
Currently, at least 1,071 vehicles belonging to 149 Lithuanian transport companies are detained in Belarus, including 496 trucks and 575 semi-trailers and other equipment, with a total value of approximately €15,907,020. Six additional companies have indicated that there may be around 401 more vehicles potentially detained, which could raise the total number of detained vehicles to 1,472, valued at about €21,922,020, nearly €22 million. The detentions started on October 29, 2025, when Belarus imposed restrictions on the movement of Lithuanian trucks, preventing them from leaving the country's territory. Some vehicles have been forcibly taken to special storage areas or parking zones near the border. For more than three months, carriers have been unable to recover their property or continue their operations, leading to significant financial strains on the affected companies. The situation raises concerns about the impact of geopolitical tensions on businesses and trade routes between Lithuania and Belarus. The Association of Lithuanian Carriers, "Linava," is seeking to address these detentions and the resultant economic losses, advocating for the rights of its members against the restrictive actions of the Belarusian government.
