SunTrips took emergency measures
SunTrips is repatriating around one hundred Finnish tourists from the United Arab Emirates due to escalating tensions in the region.
In response to escalating regional tensions following military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran, SunTrips has initiated emergency measures to repatriate Finnish tourists who are currently vacationing in the United Arab Emirates. Approximately one hundred travelers will be transported overland to Oman and then fly back to Finland via Thailand. Communications manager Suvi Aaltonen reports that some tourists are already in Oman while others are en route to Thailand, with all expected to be back in Finland by Wednesday, March 4th.
The company acted quickly, starting the repatriation process on Saturday morning when they assessed that the safety of their customers was at risk. The situation in the region has rapidly deteriorated, leading to the decision to cancel the remaining trips for the season, which was scheduled to end on March 28. This cancellation affects about eighty customers who had planned to travel with SunTrips before the situation escalated.
SunTrips has indicated that their next travel season will begin in the fall, emphasizing their commitment to customer safety during these uncertain times. The decision to end the current travel season early reflects both the company's responsiveness to global events and their prioritization of traveler safety in an increasingly volatile geopolitical landscape.
