Police investigate prisoners suspected of planning to attack penal agents in RO
The Civil Police of Rondônia is investigating prisoners linked to a criminal faction suspected of plotting attacks on penal agents as revenge for their actions against drug trafficking in prisons.
The Civil Police of Rondônia is conducting an investigation into prisoners associated with a criminal faction who are suspected of formulating a plan to assault penal agents. This plan appears to be motivated by revenge against these agents for their efforts to curb the smuggling of drugs and cell phones into prisons, which has adversely affected the illegal operations of the faction. The police have indicated that the improvised measures taken by the penal agents have caused significant disruption to the criminal activities within the prisons.
In a proactive measure to prevent any planned attacks, the police launched Operation Checkmate on October 2nd, executing ten judicial warrants which included arrests and searches. They also initiated transfers of faction leaders to federal penitentiaries as part of the broader strategy to dismantle the criminal organization. The operation involved the collaboration of multiple police departments and specialized units within the Civil Police, alongside the Special Penitentiary Action Group.
Thanks to the cooperative efforts, the police were able to neutralize the attack plan before it could be executed. The police emphasized their ongoing commitment to strategically protect their agents who have been essential in combating the influx of contraband into the correctional facilities, illustrating the persistent challenges law enforcement faces in managing crime both inside and outside of prisons.
