Jaks reaches a new agreement with the Karlovy Vary team
Latvian hockey player Jānis Jaks has extended his contract with the Czech Extraliga club Karlovy Vary 'Energie' for another season.
Jānis Jaks, a Latvian defenseman, has successfully signed an extension of his contract with the Czech Extraliga team Karlovy Vary 'Energie', ensuring he will remain with the club for the upcoming season. This agreement signifies Jaks' third year with the team, highlighting his commitment and satisfaction with his current environment. In his own words, Jaks has expressed that Karlovy Vary feels like his second home, commending the organization for its performance and culture, which he finds to be excellent across all levels, from players and coaches to management and ownership.
This season, Jaks has been a crucial player for 'Energie', averaging the highest ice time on the team, slightly over 21 minutes per game. He has also been remarkably productive, leading as the team's top-scoring defenseman with a total of 25 points from 10 goals and 15 assists, marking him as the fourth highest scorer overall in the squad. His performance has been pivotal for the team, showcasing his significant impact in competitive matches within the league.
In addition to his club career, Jaks has a rich history representing Latvia on the international stage, having participated in eight World Championships and the last two Olympic Games. He is joined by fellow Latvians Haralds Egle and Roberts Mamčics on the 'Energie' team. Currently, the club is performing well in the Extraliga, ranking sixth out of 14 teams with a notable 83 points from 50 matches, reflecting their strong standing in the league this season.
