Media: Tralmaks will return to the Czech Extra League next season

Latvian hockey player Eduards Tralmaks will return to the Czech Extra League to play for Kladno Rytiri next season.

Latvian ice hockey forward Eduards Tralmaks is set to return to the Czech Extra League next season, joining the Kladno Rytiri team, according to the Czech sports portal hokej.cz. The 29-year-old player, who currently represents the Grand Rapids Griffins, a minor league affiliate of the NHL's Detroit Red Wings, is expected to sign a five-year contract with the team. Tralmaks has had a successful season in the American Hockey League (AHL), scoring 26 points in 46 games, making him one of the top scorers in his league.

Before his time in the NHL, Tralmaks spent two seasons with the Kladno Rytiri, where he was notably the highest scorer in the Czech league in his final season there. Last year, he signed with another Czech club, Karlovy Vary Energie, under a two-way contract allowing him to move to the NHL if the opportunity arose, which meant the rights to his services currently belong to Energie. However, following speculation about his return, it has been reported that a deal is in place that will allow Tralmaks to resume his career in the Czech Extra League with Rytiri.

This move has significant implications for Tralmaks as it marks a return to a league where he had previously excelled, suggesting a strategic choice to enhance his performance and potentially refocus his career after a stint in the AHL. Playing in the Czech Extra League again could provide him with more consistent ice time and the opportunity to leverage his scoring abilities, potentially opening doors for higher-tier contracts in the future.
