Construction inspectors return to G. Nausėda's plot: explained the reason for this decision

Construction inspectors are revisiting President Gitanas Nausėda's property following a complaint regarding the initial inspection's scope.

Following a complaint by Vilnius resident Adas Paulius Paražinskas, construction inspectors are returning to the plot owned by President Gitanas Nausėda. The initial inspection, conducted by the State Territorial Planning and Construction Inspectorate (VTPSI), was criticized for only verifying the enclosure of the state-owned land, neglecting other structures on the property. Paražinskas's concerns prompted a subsequent inquiry, as he believes additional unauthorized constructions remain on the premises, particularly after alterations were made to fencing around the area.

Rosvaldas Gorbačiovas, a representative of the construction inspectorate, confirmed receiving the complaint and is now assessing the situation. However, he did not specify the next steps or timeline for the investigation. Paražinskas, associated with the Lithuanian Green Party, raised issues about the foundations, buried electrical cables, and other remnants from the metal fence that was removed. The inspectorate's focus will likely expand to these elements during its re-evaluation of the site, as there are implications regarding compliance with construction regulations specific to government properties.

The previous inspection had not addressed the structures left behind after the removal of the metal fence, which were noted in Paražinskas's complaint. The Office of the President contended that any errors in the construction of the fence were attributed to builders over a decade ago. This situation raises questions about oversight in public works and the responsibility of both governmental authorities and construction firms in ensuring adherence to building standards, particularly next to high-profile residences like that of the President.
