In March 2026, residents of various cities in the interior of Piauí will enjoy specific municipal holidays, with breaks scheduled for March 19 and March 23. However, the state government has confirmed that there will be no statewide holidays or optional time off for this month, following the last holiday celebrations which included Carnival and Ash Wednesday in February. The next statewide holiday is scheduled for Good Friday on April 3, 2026.

The municipal holidays include observances for specific local events and figures. For instance, Cabeceiras do Piauí and Caldeirão Grande do Piauí will celebrate the Day of Saint Joseph on March 19, a significant day as Saint Joseph is the patron saint of these municipalities. Moreover, Amarante will commemorate on March 23 the tragic accident that claimed the lives of nine teachers and a bus driver back in 2002, a solemn reminder of that day for the community.
