First Agricultural Cabinet... A Mega Package of ₹27,746 Crore for Farmers

Madhya Pradesh has held its first Agricultural Cabinet meeting in a tribal area, approving a significant package for farmers worth ₹27,746 crore.

In a historic move for Madhya Pradesh, the first Agricultural Cabinet meeting was convened in the tribal region of Nagalwadi, led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. This meeting resulted in the approval of the largest package for farmers in the state's history, totaling ₹27,746 crore, with 16 crucial schemes spread across six major departments. These initiatives aim to enhance the agricultural sector and provide much-needed support to farmers across the region.

A substantial part of the approved package, amounting to ₹9,508 crore, will be dedicated to livestock and dairy development through four key schemes. Additionally, ₹8,186 crore has been allocated to the cooperative department to ease access to loans and fertilizers for farmers. Other allocations include ₹4,263 crore for horticulture and food processing, ₹3,502 crore for the agriculture department, ₹2,067 crore for Narmada Valley development irrigation projects, and ₹218 crore for fisheries. This comprehensive financial support reflects the government's commitment to strengthening the farming community.

One of the pivotal initiatives announced during the cabinet meeting is the 'Lifeline' irrigation scheme for Badwani, which addresses the long-standing demand of local farmers. The cabinet approved the Barla Udhwan Micro Irrigation Project with an investment of ₹861 crore. This project will irrigate 15,500 hectares of land across 33 villages, providing significant relief to farmers struggling with drought conditions. The Chief Minister also emphasized the importance of promoting natural farming and revitalizing markets, which indicates a progressive approach towards sustainable agricultural practices in the region.
