Ethiopian Among 58 Injured in Iran Attacks On UAE

A report reveals that one Ethiopian citizen is among 58 individuals injured due to Iranian missile and drone attacks in the United Arab Emirates.

A recent report indicates that at least one Ethiopian national was injured in a series of Iranian missile and drone attacks on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that began on February 28, 2026. According to the UAE Ministry of Defense, a total of 58 people were reported injured, although the specific numbers of Ethiopians harmed remain unspecified. The attacks have provoked substantial military responses from the UAE, highlighting the ongoing tensions in the region.

The statement from the Ministry revealed that the UAE's air defenses successfully intercepted a staggering total of 165 ballistic missiles, two cruise missiles, and 541 drones that were launched from Iran. On the second day of the attacks alone, the UAE forces claimed to have destroyed 20 ballistic missiles, with eight landing in the sea. However, the situation remains critical as 21 drones have successfully struck civilian targets, exacerbating security concerns for residents in the UAE.

Starting from the first day of the attacks, 165 ballistic missiles headed towards the UAE were detected, with 152 successfully intercepted. However, the damage caused by the attacks has raised alarms about regional security and stability. With more than half of the drones intercepted, the situation indicates a significant challenge for the UAE's defense capabilities amidst an escalating threat from Iranian military actions, and highlights the potential implications for foreign nationals, including Ethiopians, living in or visiting the UAE.
