Get to know the history of the LNMM building! Make a museum model!

The LNMM project encourages creative activities for children and adults centered around the history and exhibits of the museum.

The LNMM (Latvian National Museum of Art) initiative aims to engage the public by providing daily creative and educational ideas throughout March, focusing on various aspects of the museum such as its architecture, artists, and historical collections. The activities are designed to inspire both children and adults, promoting interaction with the museum's resources and a deeper understanding of art and culture.

Historically, the building that houses the LNMM has a rich background, with the foundation being laid in 1903 and the building officially opened in 1905. The project was led by architect Vilhelms Neimanis, a key figure in Latvian art history, whose vision helped establish a significant cultural institution in Riga. The museum was initially used for the Riga City Art Museum and the Kunstverein, showcasing predominantly Western European artworks.

This project, developed in collaboration with LNMM, is a vibrant opportunity to celebrate the history and ongoing relevance of the museum. It highlights the importance of community involvement through events, competitions, and creative endeavors that connect people to the museum and its diverse narrative, ultimately enhancing cultural appreciation in Latvia.
