Lithuania stands out in Europe – ranked first

Lithuania ranks first in Europe for its favorable business environment, amidst heightened global economic and geopolitical uncertainty.

Recent data reveals Lithuania's exceptional position in the European entrepreneurial landscape, ranking first among nations for overall business environment conditions by the GEM 2025/2026 report. This commendation comes at a time when macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainties continue to affect the global economy, with around 67% of surveyed economies reporting instances of income decline rather than growth by 2025. The challenges faced in launching new businesses have escalated, marking an ongoing struggle with structural imbalances in many countries.

According to the GEM report, Lithuania is one of only four countries globally, alongside India, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, where experts rated all conditions for entrepreneurship—including access to financing, innovation infrastructure, regulatory environment, and government policy—as adequate or better. This recognition highlights Lithuania's comprehensive approach to fostering a robust business climate, significantly surpassing larger economies such as Germany, France, Switzerland, and Italy within the context of the European Union.

The report reflects a promising outlook for Lithuania's economic landscape, emphasizing its potential to contribute significantly to entrepreneurial growth in the face of global challenges. As the European Union navigates its own economic complexities, Lithuania's leadership position may serve as an example for other countries, encouraging a reevaluation of strategies aimed at enhancing the overall conditions for entrepreneurship across Europe.
