Korean companies operating in Iran and Israel have started evacuating their staff to nearby regions amid heightened tensions following U.S. and Israeli airstrikes in Iran.
Following the recent U.S. and Israeli airstrikes in Iran, regional tensions have escalated, prompting Korean companies and trade promotion agencies operating in Iran and Israel to evacuate their personnel to neighboring regions or local shelters. As of now, four Korean firms including Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are present in Iran, primarily operating sales and liaison offices without production bases. Reports indicate that the six Korean employees from these firms have either returned to South Korea or are currently staying in Dubai.
Meanwhile, the 28 Korean staff members from companies in Israel are also relocating to Jordan for safety. The companies involved include major South Korean entities such as Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, among others. In light of the escalating military conflicts, Korean firms are actively working to ensure the safety of employees stationed in the broader Middle East region, implementing emergency communication channels and monitoring safety conditions continuously.
Furthermore, trade promotion organizations like KOTRA and the Korean Chamber of Commerce are checking on local safety situations and establishing emergency responses. Notably, a KOTRA employee in Iran has returned to South Korea recently, while another in Israel is seeking refuge in a local shelter. Companies such as Hanwha Group are also ensuring the safety of their employees and families in various Middle Eastern nations, emphasizing the importance of safety and precautionary measures during this turbulent time.
