Sabrina do Bel is elected mayor of Senador Sá (CE) this Sunday after a supplementary election
Sabrina do Bel has been elected mayor of Senador Sá, Ceará, following a supplementary election.
Sabrina Morais Lopes, known as Sabrina do Bel (PP), has been elected as the new mayor of Senador Sá, a small municipality located in the northern region of Ceará, Brazil. The election took place on Sunday, with only one list of candidates, which included her running mate Maria Veriani Araújo Costa, also from the PP. Due to this unopposed status, the pair only needed one valid vote to secure their positions. The new leaders are set to serve until December 31, 2028.
The election period was notably challenging, having been postponed twice before the recent authorization by the Tribunal Superior Eleitoral (TSE). On the day of the election, which lasted from 8 AM to 5 PM, a total of 6,873 eligible voters in Senador Sá had the opportunity to cast their ballots. For this election, the authorities deployed 35 voting machines to facilitate the process in the municipality, which has a population of approximately 7,000 residents.
This election marks an important development in the governance of Senador Sá, highlighting the procedural adjustments and oversight of electoral authorities to ensure a functioning local administration. As the newly elected officials prepare to begin their terms, the implications for local policy and community engagement will be closely observed by residents and political analysts alike.
