Demonstration in Paulista gathers Flávio, Nikolas, and governors in a rehearsal for the reunification of the right
Supporters gathered in Paulista to protest against President Lula and demand the release of former President Bolsonaro.
On Sunday, the 1st, federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira instigated a significant demonstration in São Paulo's Avenida Paulista, drawing in crowds to express dissent against President Lula and the Supreme Federal Court (STF) ministers. Protesters voiced demands for the removal of Lula and specific STF members, including Alexandre de Moraes and Dias Toffoli, while also calling for the freedom of former President Jair Bolsonaro and amnesty for those charged for the January 8th riots.
The event was coordinated by state deputy Tomé Abduch of the Republicans party and was backed by a fundraising effort that amassed around R$ 130,000. This demonstrates the level of organization and financial investment in the movement, which seeks to consolidate right-wing forces in Brazil. The presence of various local politicians, such as Flávio Bolsonaro and governors from the right-leaning political spectrum, indicates a strategic alignment for upcoming political actions, aiming to bolster unity among different factions that share anti-Lula sentiments.
As the rally unfolded, protesters filled the area around the MASP with banners and chants, emphasizing slogans like "Out, Moraes," signifying a deeply rooted sentiment against judicial figures seen as adversaries to right-wing ideals. The demonstration reflects a larger narrative of political polarization in Brazil post-2022 elections. It highlights ongoing tensions and the desire among Bolsonaro supporters to reclaim the political landscape while challenging the current administration's legitimacy and judicial decisions.
