Campinas Parks Reopen in the North Region After a Respite from Rain
The city of Campinas has reopened six parks in the North region that were closed due to heavy rainfall after a municipal decree was enacted for safety.
On Sunday, the city of Campinas reopened six parks in its North region that had been temporarily closed due to significant rainfall totaling 123.7 millimeters over the past week. This closure was in accordance with municipal decree No. 24.175/2025, which mandates the closure of green areas when rainfall exceeds 80 millimeters over a 72-hour period to ensure public safety. The reopens include popular parks such as Bosque Parque da Mata and Parque Ecológico Hermógenes de Freitas Leitão Filho.
Following the reopening, all parks in Campinas are now operating normally, allowing residents and visitors to enjoy green spaces that had previously been inaccessible. The parks include diverse natural areas that are critical to maintaining the ecological balance in the urban environment of Campinas. The local government stated that it has closely monitored the weather conditions and ensured that all reopening procedures prioritized public safety.
In case of any emergencies related to the rain, city officials have advised residents to contact the relevant emergency services, including the Civil Defense for flooding issues and the Fire Department for fallen trees or other hazards. This proactive communication underscores the city's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its community during adverse weather conditions.
