Heavy rains in Campinas led to multiple flooding incidents and the invasion of homes, but thankfully there were no reports of victims or evacuations.
On Saturday, October 7, heavy rainfall in Campinas, Brazil, resulted in significant flooding, affecting roads and multiple residences. The local Civil Defense reported at least six instances where water invaded homes, particularly in the Jardim Ipaussurama area, where a stream overflowed and affected two houses on Álvares Maciel Street. Residents captured the flooding on video, showing the intensity of the situation.
In the Sousas district, the Atibaia River overflowed, impacting roadways like Maneco Rosa Street and 15 de Novembro Street. Fortunately, despite the flooding, no victims or displaced individuals were reported. The municipality noted that the Civil Defense is actively monitoring the river levels and assessing the ongoing impacts of the rains, responding to incidents as needed.
From 3:03 PM to 10:05 PM, the Civil Defense recorded eight responses related to the flooding, with rainfall amounts reaching as high as 123.9 millimeters. The authorities are vigilant in monitoring the situation, particularly regarding potential landslides that could pose additional risks to affected areas.
