Electric car sales set another record
Electric car sales in Denmark hit a record high in February, according to Mobility Denmark, with 94.4% of new cars registered being electric.
In February, the sales of electric vehicles (EVs) in Denmark reached a new record, as noted by the industry organization Mobility Denmark in a press release. There were 11,933 new passenger cars registered in Denmark for the month, marking a 2.8% increase compared to February of last year. This significant rise emphasizes the growing trend and acceptance of electric vehicles among Danish consumers.
Mads Rørvig, the CEO of Mobility Denmark, highlighted that the popularity of electric cars is continuing to soar, projecting a substantial shift by 2026 where EVs are expected to dominate the market. With 94.4% of the newly registered vehicles for private use being electric, it shows a monumental change in consumer behavior as electric cars transition from a niche market to becoming mainstream consumer choices.
The results underscore the effectiveness of Denmark's efforts towards electrification and environmental sustainability. The substantial uptake of electric vehicles not only reflects changing consumer preferences but also marks a critical shift towards achieving national environmental goals, potentially influencing policies and market dynamics in the automotive industry.
