UP: Son-in-law steals millions in gold and silver from father-in-law's house

A man and his three accomplices have been arrested for stealing gold and silver jewelry worth millions from the home of his father-in-law in Bijnor, India.

In a shocking incident in the Nahataur area of Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, a man named Naveen Chauhan and three others have been arrested on charges of stealing valuables from his father-in-law’s home. According to reports, the group was involved in a calculated theft, executing their plan on February 25. The case came to light when the victim, local businessman Santosh Verma, lodged a complaint on February 26. Verma alleged that Chauhan had drugged him, his wife, and daughter by mixing a narcotic substance in their tea, causing them to lose consciousness. Once incapacitated, Chauhan seized a huge amount of gold jewelry and approximately 40 kilograms of silver from the house.

Following the complaint, police launched an investigation and arrested a local goldsmith who may have assisted in the crime. The authorities managed to recover some of the stolen jewelry and cash. Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Prakash Kumar confirmed that upon receiving a tip-off, police teams were able to apprehend Chauhan and his associates at the Begrajpur bus stand. The incident has raised concerns about familial trust and safety in the region, highlighting a troubling trend of crimes within homes by those closest to victims.
