Johannes Seeman won his fifth ITF tournament

Estonian tennis player Johannes Seeman claimed his fifth ITF doubles title alongside Latvian partner Robert Strombachs at a tournament in Costa Rica.

Johannes Seeman, a 25-year-old tennis player from Pärnu, Estonia, recently achieved a significant milestone in his career by winning his fifth ITF doubles title. This victory took place at the M15 tournament in San José, Costa Rica, which has a prize pool of $15,000. Competing alongside Latvian teammate Robert Strombachs, the duo demonstrated resilience throughout the tournament, especially considering their status as the top seeds in the Central American event.

Seeman and Strombachs faced several challenges during the tournament, with the final three matches culminating in decisive tiebreaks. In the quarterfinals, they initially lost the first set against the Dominican pair of Nick Hardt and Emmanuel Munoz, but fought back to take the match with scores of 6:3 and 11:9. They followed this up with a hard-fought semifinal win against Brazilian Lucca Pinto and Colombian Andres Urrea, winning in similar fashion after splitting sets, ultimately winning 10:7 in the final deciding tiebreak.

The final match against the Colombian Juan Idarraga and Salvadoran Juan Vasquez was a thrilling encounter. After taking the first set 6:4, Seeman and Strombachs dropped the second set by the same score. The tiebreak was closely contested, but the Estonian-Latvian pair surged ahead to win it 7:4, securing the championship title without allowing their opponents to force a draw, marking a notable achievement for Seeman in his tennis career.
