TJMG Judge Run Over by Motorcycle in BH

Judge Fábio Torres de Sousa of the Minas Gerais Court was injured when hit by a motorcycle in Belo Horizonte while dealing with a vehicle breakdown.

Judge Fábio Torres de Sousa, serving at the Tribunal de Justiça de Minas Gerais (TJMG), was involved in a motorcycle accident in Belo Horizonte on Thursday evening, October 26. The incident occurred when the judge was placing a warning triangle on the Avenida do Contorno to alert motorists about his girlfriend’s car that had suffered a mechanical failure and was immobile on the road. Reports indicate that the motorcyclist was unable to stop in time as he tried to avoid the stationary vehicle ahead of him, leading to the unfortunate collision with the judge.

The 59-year-old judge sustained serious injuries, including an exposed fracture in his left leg, and was taken to João XXIII Hospital by the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu). The motorcyclist involved in the incident also suffered injuries, specifically a cut on his right leg, and was transported to the same medical facility. The circumstances of the accident underline the risks faced by individuals on the road, especially when dealing with mechanical failures that can obstruct traffic flow.

In light of the judge’s serious condition, the TJMG has reportedly called for blood donations to assist with his recovery process. This incident not only raises concerns about traffic safety in the region but also highlights the importance of community support in times of medical emergencies, as the judicial community rallies behind one of its members in need of urgent medical care.
