Man took a loan of R$ 6,000 in the name of ex-wife before killing her in the interior of SP, says victim's mother
A man took a loan in his ex-wife's name shortly before allegedly murdering her in São Paulo.
Luiz Antonio de Oliveira Cruz is accused of murdering his ex-wife, Jaqueline Limeira de Oliveira, in Morro Agudo, São Paulo. Just days before the crime, Cruz reportedly took out a loan of R$ 6,600 in her name, causing her distress about their financial situation. The victim's mother revealed that Jaqueline was worried about mounting debts incurred by Cruz without her consent, which strained their relationship.
The incident occurred on the night of September 24, 2023, and Cruz turned himself in to the police three days later, although he chose to remain silent during questioning. This has raised suspicions regarding his motives and the circumstances leading to the murder. Jaqueline, who was a 30-year-old nursing student, had been facing domestic issues with Cruz, who is now in preventive custody as investigations continue.
Additionally, the victim's mother, Ana Cláudia Limeira Pinto, shared her own experiences of domestic violence at the hands of Cruz, highlighting a troubling pattern of abusive behavior. This situation has shed light on the broader issue of domestic violence in Brazil, especially regarding financial manipulation and control within abusive relationships, sparking discussions about the need for more robust support systems for victims of such crimes.
