Ilta-Sanomat readers predict that violinist Linda Lampenius and singer Pete Parkkonen will win the Uuden musiikin kilpailu (UMK) with their song 'Liekinheitin' in a poll ahead of the final.
As anticipation builds for the final of the Uuden musiikin kilpailu (UMK) set to take place at the Nokia Arena in Tampere, popular Finnish news outlet Ilta-Sanomat conducted a poll among its readers to gauge which contestants they believe will emerge victorious. The final competitors include Etta, Linda Lampenius and Pete Parkkonen, Komiat, Sinikka Monte, Antti Paalanen, Chachi, and Kiki, all of whom will showcase their talents with hopes of winning the esteemed music competition.
The poll, which allowed readers to vote for their favorite contestant until Friday evening, received over 5,000 submissions. According to the results, a significant majority of 66.7% of participants are confident that Linda Lampenius and Pete Parkkonen will take home the victory with their song 'Liekinheitin'. Following them, Antti Paalanen secured the second position with 12.7% of the votes for his entry 'Takatukka', and the band Komiat came in third place with their song 'Lululai', capturing 8.9% of the votes.
The official UMK winner will be announced during a live broadcast from Yle on Saturday evening, with the winner determined by a combination of audience votes (75%) and votes from international professional juries (25%). Viewers can tune into the live event on Yle TV1 and Yle Areena starting at 9 PM, marking a significant evening for Finnish music and showcasing emerging talents from across the country.
