Delta governor urges leaders to prioritize service at Senator Nwaoboshi’s funeral
Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori emphasized the importance of public service during Senator Peter Nwaoboshi's funeral.
At the funeral of former Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, held in his hometown of Ibusa, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori called on political leaders to prioritize service to the public. Speaking during the Mass at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, he reminisced about Nwaoboshi's dedication and stressed the importance of viewing public office as a sacred trust entrusted for the common good. Oborevwori highlighted that the legacy of service left by the late senator should serve as a guide for current and future leaders.
The governor shared that Senator Nwaoboshi served the Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly from 2015 until his passing in December 2025 due to a brief illness. His contributions to the region and Nigeria, in general, were remembered by many as he was laid to rest. Oborevwori’s message urged leaders not only to honor fallen colleagues through rhetoric but also to embrace unity and collaboration in politics, which he believes is crucial for Nigeria's progress.
Overall, Governor Oborevwori's speech centered on the notion that in a time of political rivalry, it is imperative for leaders to rise above their differences and work collectively for their constituents and the country. The legacy of Nwaoboshi, who had a notable impact during his time in office, serves as a poignant reminder for all political figures to commit to their roles in serving the public effectively.
