Restoration of the Railway Car at Simón Bolívar Malecón Completed

The traditional railway car located in the Simón Bolívar Malecón in Ecuador has been completely restored and refurbished for public display.

The emblematic railway car situated within the Simón Bolívar Malecón has undergone significant restoration as part of a project by the Malecón 2000 foundation. This restoration included comprehensive cleaning, treatment of the wooden and metal components, and reinforcement of the structure with original pieces being recovered to maintain the integrity of the carriage's materials and finishes. The railway car, which pays tribute to the historical railway service in the area, stands as a significant architectural feature in the local tourist landscape.

In addition to the restoration of the railway car itself, the surrounding landscape has seen improvements, including enhancements to the adjacent fountain, which will operate on a rotating schedule, and the renovation of the station platform. These upgrades aim to provide visitors with a more enriching visual and cultural experience of the site. The railway car measures 14.75 meters in length, and its restoration has been well received by the local community.

The Malecón 2000 foundation has indicated that the railway car is now intended solely for ornamental display. This restoration project comes after the railway car had remained closed for several years, highlighting ongoing efforts to preserve and celebrate the region's historical assets while contributing to the revitalization of the Malecón area as a tourist attraction.
