A 69-year-old man in Brazil was intubated following the ingestion of a toxic fruit he found in a neighbor's yard, with his family experiencing similar symptoms.
Oséias de Souza Lima, a 69-year-old man from Rio Branco, Brazil, was recently intubated at the Instituto de Ortopedia e Traumatologia do Acre after consuming a fruit discovered in a neighbor's yard. This incident occurred on Thursday night, and both his wife, 46-year-old Gelzifran da Silva Lima, and their 13-year-old son also fell ill after eating the same fruit. They were initially treated by the Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência (Samu) and taken to a local emergency unit before being referred to a hospital, where doctors diagnosed them with exogenous intoxication from the fruit.
