Heavy rainfall in Bom Jesus dos Perdões led to the overflow of the Atibainha River, flooding streets and houses in the area.
On Thursday afternoon, a severe rainstorm inundated Bom Jesus dos Perdões, resulting in the overflow of the Atibainha River which floods streets and homes in the vicinity. The São Paulo Civil Defense reported that the flooding began around 3:30 PM and primarily affected lower areas at first. However, as the evening progressed, the water level rose rapidly and spread to higher ground, raising concerns among local residents.
Aerial images captured by Rodrigo Big illustrate the extent of the flooding, showing streets completely submerged in water. Local government officials, firefighters, and Civil Defense were dispatched to assist the affected population. The Civil Defense agency is currently on the ground, collaborating with Social Assistance services to assess damage and the needs of families impacted by the flooding.
In response to the crisis, the Bom Jesus dos Perdões City Hall issued a statement, emphasizing ongoing support and coordination efforts aimed at addressing the immediate needs of the community.
