Potholes and accumulated water complicate circulation in La Aurora during the rainy season
In La Aurora, Daule, water accumulation and potholes are hindering vehicle circulation following recent rains.
In La Aurora, a sector in Daule, rising water levels and numerous potholes are making it increasingly dangerous for drivers. As recent rains have inundated streets, many drivers are forced to reduce their speed to navigate around potholes that are hidden beneath the water. While some internal roads in residential areas have maintained acceptable conditions, essential routes are plagued with consecutive potholes and flooded parts, significantly inconveniencing local traffic.
The situation is particularly dire on the León Febres-Cordero Avenue, which runs adjacent to the Daule River. Residual water levels have grouped near the curb, impeding access to local businesses; the flooding restricts the right lane of the avenue, forcing vehicles to steer towards the center of the road. Local merchants have been seen using brooms to clear water to allow pedestrian access to their shops, illustrating the severity of the flooding and its impact on commerce and community mobility.
Furthermore, on Elías Dau Briones street, near the Villa Club roundabout and traffic light, there is visible water accumulation mixed with trash, presenting another hazard for motorists. This particular road sees traffic from light vehicles as well as trucks, exacerbating the situation as the waste disposal complicates drainage. Authorities need to address these issues urgently, as they pose ongoing risks to public safety and the local economy during this rainy season.
