ETV literary program "Between the Lines" received recognition from the librarians' association
The ETV literary program "Between the Lines" was honored by the Estonian Librarians' Association for its contribution to the library field.
On February 27, the Estonian Librarians' Association announced its annual awards recognizing excellence in the library sector, where Ave-Marleen Rei's program "Between the Lines" received acknowledgment. This annual event, now in its 36th year, aims to highlight the diverse work of libraries and honor the most dedicated librarians in Estonia. Alongside this recognition, a journalist was also acknowledged for their efforts in promoting libraries and dubbed a friend of libraries.
Ave-Marleen Rei, who serves as the head editor for ERR's cultural editorial board, received the journalism award for the program she produced during the Estonian Book Year. "Between the Lines" dives into the stories of beloved Estonian authors while also focusing on individual local libraries in each episode. Rei emphasizes the importance of libraries in fostering reading habits among children and youth, particularly in support of Estonian literature.
This recognition not only celebrates the achievements of Rei and her team but also underscores the crucial role that libraries play in the community. By showcasing local libraries and their collections, the program helps to raise awareness about the importance of reading and the preservation of the Estonian literary heritage, which is essential for cultural continuity and enrichment within society.
