The highway's operator, Concessionária Novo Litoral (CNL), quickly mobilized teams to address the situation and said that while the road would remain closed, an operation named 'Pare e Siga' (Stop and Go) was implemented to manage traffic flow using the roadside. This approach allows for alternating traffic movement in both directions, minimizing disruptions as clearing efforts continue.
As of now, there is no estimate for when the highway will be reopened, making it crucial for drivers to seek alternate routes. The situation highlights the vulnerability of infrastructure in areas susceptible to heavy rain and landslides, underscoring the importance of timely maintenance and emergency response measures in preserving road safety.
