On Friday, Brazilian table tennis players and couple Hugo Calderano and Bruna Takahashi achieved a historic milestone by clinching the title at the Grand Smash in Singapore. This victory makes them the first non-Asian duo to reach the finals of such a prestigious tournament, often compared to tennis's Grand Slam events. They faced off against the favored South Korean pair Jong-hoon Lim and Yubin Shin, who were notable for being the current ranking leaders and bronze medalists at the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics. The Brazilian team showcased a dominant performance, winning the final match decisively with a scoreline of 3-0, including game scores of 11/7, 11/6, and 13/11.
