A memorial plaque has been unveiled in Bratislava's Račianske mýto park in honor of musician Ďuro Černý, attended by friends and fellow musicians.

A poignant moment took place in Bratislava as friends and fellow musicians gathered to commemorate the late drummer Ďuro Černý by unveiling a memorial plaque in Račianske mýto park. The event, which drew around one hundred attendees, marked the tenth anniversary of Černý's untimely death at the age of 54 due to health complications. During the ceremony, musician Maťo Ďurinda led the crowd in a heartfelt rendition of 'friends you have' from Tublatanka's song 'Loď do neznáma,' highlighting the enduring legacy of Černý in the Slovak music community.

The initiative to create the memorial plaque was driven by notable figures in the Slovak music scene, including Maťo Ďurinda, Roman 'Galo' Galvánek, and designer Víťo Fila. Their motivation stemmed from a desire to honor Černý, whose contributions to music continue to resonate. At the unveiling, Galo expressed thoughts about Černý's legacy and the importance of recognition, even in places where he may not have performed traditionally, like the iconic Beatles songs played by his friend Meky Žbirka.

The gathering not only paid tribute to Černý but also sparked discussions about creating a musicians' alley at the location, which would serve as a fitting homage to the contributions of musicians in Slovakia. This idea appears to be a consolidation of collective memories and respect for past talents, ensuring that the cultural impact of artists like Ďuro Černý is remembered by future generations.
