PM Corregedoria uses wrong data in the arrest of Transwolff escort

The Military Police's Corregedoria in São Paulo wrongly used unverified data in the investigation leading to the arrest of three officers guarding directors of the Transwolff bus company, linked to the PCC criminal faction.

The Corregedoria of the Military Police of São Paulo has come under scrutiny for its use of erroneous and unverified data in an inquiry that led to the arrest of three police officers responsible for the personal security of directors at Transwolff, a bus company currently under investigation for alleged connections to the criminal faction PCC (Primeiro Comando da Capital). Officials maintain that these police officers, Alexandre Paulino Vieira, Alexandre Aleixo Romano Cezario, and Nereu Aparecido Alves, provided security to individuals known to be associated with the PCC, thereby facilitating money laundering operations allegedly carried out by the company's directors.

However, the foundation of the Corregedoria's claims relies on incorrect information stating that the ties between Transwolff and the PCC were recognized since 2020, particularly referencing the former president of Transwolff, Luiz Carlos Efigênio Pacheco, known as Pandora. Documented evidence implies that Pacheco was not among the defendants in the initial stage of Operation Sharks, which had accused 19 supposed members of the PCC leadership, leading to questions about the validity of the ongoing investigation and the practices employed by the Military Police.

This incident raises significant concerns regarding the procedural integrity of police investigations in Brazil, as wrongful arrests based on misinformation could undermine public trust in law enforcement agencies. It also places a spotlight on the broader issue of police accountability and transparency within the context of organized crime investigations, particularly in a region deeply affected by gang activities, suggesting a pressing need for reforms to ensure accurate and responsible police operations.
