PF fulfills arrest warrants in operation regarding illegal access to Moraes' data

The Federal Police of Brazil executes arrest warrants in an operation investigating the illegal access of data related to Supreme Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes.

On Thursday, the Federal Police (PF) of Brazil implemented five temporary arrest warrants as part of Operation Dataleaks, which investigates allegations of illegal access to data belonging to Alexandre de Moraes, a minister of the Supreme Federal Court (STF). This operation targets individuals responsible for a platform housing unofficial databases containing personal information of Supreme Court members, obtained through unauthorized access to governmental systems.

The primary goal of Operation Dataleaks is to dismantle a criminal organization that specializes in obtaining, altering, selling, and unlawfully disseminating sensitive personal data derived from both government and private databases. This operation signifies a significant intervention by the authorities to combat cybercrime and protect the privacy of high-ranking officials as well as the integrity of confidential information.

In addition to the five arrests, four search and seizure warrants are being executed across multiple Brazilian states, including São Paulo, Tocantins, and Alagoas. The investigation encompasses serious criminal allegations including organized crime, invasion of computer systems, qualified theft through fraud, and corruption. This operation not only targets criminal activity but also highlights the increasing concern over data security in Brazil's political sphere.
