Foodora in Finland Reminds of Last Moments
Foodora is set to cease operations in Finland on Friday, reminding customers that all unused discount codes will expire by the end of the day.
Foodora, the food delivery service, is preparing to shut down its operations in Finland on Friday, marking the end of its service in the country after nearly eight years. In a notice to customers, the company has reminded them that all promotional codes will expire at 23:59 on the final day, emphasizing that no refunds will be issued for any unused codes. Only refunds for customer-paid promo codes and gift cards will be honored, as part of their customer service commitment.
In response to the operational halt, Foodora will also credit customers for any balances from their pro subscription fees, providing a proportional refund as part of their exit process. The company aims to process all of these refunds by the end of March, making it clear that it is committed to fair treatment for its users during the closure phase. This move follows Foodora's previous announcement two weeks ago regarding their withdrawal from the Finnish market.
Foodora, which is under the umbrella of the German group Delivery Hero, has been in operation in Finland since 2015. The decision to exit comes amid a challenging competitive landscape in the food delivery sector, highlighting the difficulties faced by international delivery services in capturing and maintaining market share in Finland. As the service wraps up, this decision reflects broader industry trends where major players reassess their positions in various markets, especially in the face of localized competition and changing consumer preferences.
