Nakashu Drug Trafficking Group? 13 Arrested for Violations of the Narcotics Control Law

Fukuoka Prefectural Police have arrested 13 individuals, including a company employee, on suspicion of drug trafficking in Nakashu, Fukuoka City.

Fukuoka Prefectural Police have apprehended 13 people, including a 25-year-old company employee, Yuga Inanaga, for suspected violations of the Narcotics Control Law and involvement in a drug trafficking group operating around Nakashu, a prominent entertainment district in Fukuoka City. The arrests were announced on the 27th, but the suspects have not yet disclosed their positions regarding the charges. Investigators believe that Inanaga and his associates sold illegal substances including cocaine and marijuana on the streets of Chuo Ward during the night hours.

According to the police, the investigation began in spring after receiving tips about individuals engaged in drug trafficking activities. The operation led to the discovery and seizure of approximately 5.5 kilograms of dried marijuana, cocaine, and other drugs from various locations, including apartments rented for the purpose of storing narcotics. The arrests are notable for being the first crackdown on a drug trafficking group of this nature within the prefecture, with some members reportedly changing their storage sites frequently to evade law enforcement.

The arrested individuals allegedly coordinated their activities through social media platforms, initially recruiting customers via posts on X (formerly Twitter) and directing them to communicate through Telegram. Law enforcement officials obtained information from testimony of associates and analysis of mobile phones, indicating that Inanaga played a leading role in organizing the operations and recruiting local friends and restaurant employees in Nakashu for the drug trafficking scheme.
