Ship Familiar from Cruise Trips Out of Service - Here's Why

The Tallink Victoria I ferry operating between Helsinki and Tallinn will be out of service for two weeks starting March 1 for scheduled maintenance.

The Tallink Victoria I, a ferry that operates between Helsinki and Tallinn, is scheduled to be out of service from March 1 to March 14 for routine maintenance. This maintenance involves a technical dry docking at the Turku shipyard in Naantali, where the vessel’s underwater hull will undergo thorough inspection and servicing. This includes cleaning the hull and renewing the coating that reduces water resistance, essential for maintaining the vessel’s efficiency and safety during operations.

In addition to the hull work, other significant updates will be made to the ferry, including the replacement of seawater pipes and valves, which are vital for the ferry’s operational integrity. Furthermore, a new passenger entrance will be constructed on the seventh deck, which will enable the vessel to use a different docking location in the Helsinki harbor in the future. This is an important upgrade, as it will likely improve passenger flow and operational efficiency when the ship returns.

While the Victoria I is offline, Tallink's fast ferries, MyStar and Megastar, will continue to operate normally on the Helsinki-Tallinn route, ensuring that service levels are maintained for travelers during this maintenance period. The Victoria I is expected to return to service on Sunday, March 15, accommodating up to 2,500 passengers, ensuring continued connectivity between these two capitals after its improvements are completed.
