On Thursday, February 26, a tragic accident took place in the Opatkowice area of Kraków when a train traveling from Kraków Główny to Oświęcim struck a 31-year-old man. Despite the immediate efforts of medical personnel and emergency services, the man’s life could not be saved. Around 10:24 PM, the incident prompted a swift response, with three fire brigades arriving to illuminate the area and support the approximately 100 passengers on the train, none of whom were injured in the collision.

The authorities quickly implemented substitute transport options to allow travelers to continue their journeys, although train traffic in the vicinity was completely suspended, leading to significant disruptions.
